Individual Values Appraisal
Like many games and applications, niantic continues to improve and add new features to Pokémon GO. One of these new features not a part of the original gameplay is the individual values (ivs) Appraisal System. If you’re not that great of a Pokemon Fan, Individual Values are the hidden values your Pokemon have for each stat. In Pokemon GO, each Pokemon has three stats – Attack, Defense & Stamina – and each of these stats can have a value up to fifteen. The higher these values, the better your Pokemon will be. (The Pokemon known as Tyrogue even evolves into one of three Pokemon based on its highest IV Stat.)Now these values don’t have as much of an effect on your Pokemon’s Stats as the mainstream games (only between a 7-10% difference in Maximum combat power) but that could be the difference between a good Pokemon and a great one in this specific game. A Pokemon has a 1 in 4,000th chance of having Perfect ivs, and thus being able to achieve its personal Maximum Combat Power.
A player can check there Pokémon's ivs by accessing their individual Pokemon Page, clicking on the little icon in the bottom-right corner, and then clicking on “Appraisalâ€. From there, your Team Leader will personally judge how good your Pokemon is. Each Leader has different phrases to describe how good your Pokemon is, so you’ll have to learn their given lingo.
